About me
My name is Lihini Nisansala. I am a 2nd-year Software Engineering Undergraduate at NSBM Green University affiliated with Plymouth University UK. Currently, I am working as an Intern Machine Learning Engineer at Embla Software Innovation. Also, I’m a Microsoft Learn Student Ambassador at Microsoft.
I got to know about the ScholarX program through LinkedIn and by that time I was selected as a University Student Representative at Sustainable Education Foundation. I applied for the program and After the selection process, I was very fortunate to be selected to the program as a mentee out of more than 500 applicants.
About my mentor
My mentor is Mr.Malinda Malwala. He is a Ph.D. student in the department of computer science at the University of Colorado-Boulder under the supervision of Prof. Danny Dig. He has received his B.Sc. from the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka in 2015. He is a former senior software engineer in London Stock Exchange Technology (2015–2018). Mr.Malinda enjoys researching software engineering, software quality of ML software, static code analysis, software refactoring, and empirical software engineering.
The scholarX program is not all about mentoring but it brings all the mentees together to network and there are so many activities and opportunities they provide for the mentees. I believe that this is a great opportunity for undergraduates to have in their life. This program enables mentees to gain new skills and grow their existing skills to be successful in the professional environment and academia.
What I have to share is if you are an undergraduate and you are reading this, Don’t think twice, Apply for this year’s program !!! and that will be a golden opportunity for you.
I’m super excited to bring many more articles about my experiences as a mentee of the ScholarX program.
Stay Safe everyone!
