Deciding to pursue a Ph.D. in a foreign country is a hard decision for any student. And this process costs a considerable amount of money, time, and self-sacrifice. Preparing to apply for a Ph.D. requires a lot of research about countries, universities, Ph.D. programs, and Professors.

Recently I had a meeting with my mentor from the university of colorado boulder. He guided me through applying for a Ph.D. in three steps.

First, Select a Country

The first thing my mentor asked me to do is select a country. When selecting a country, there are several facts to consider. We need to find out the climate conditions, living costs, and travel time. We can select a country that meets our expectations freely.

Secondly, Find Universities that offer Ph.D. programs in my area of interest. When selecting a university we need to check the university ranking and quality standards. And also check whether their entry qualifications match ours.

You can check the university ranking here: QS World University Rankings 2022: Top Global Universities | Top Universities

Finally, Find professors who are involved in your research area.

The above facts are the most important things when it comes to applying for a Ph.D. program.

Will keep everything posted as time goes.
